FAQs

How is a Cottage School different from a Co-op?

Instead of a group of moms getting together to bring many types of enriching classes to their students, a Cottage School meets with a particular aim and focus. The latter is a more fitting description of this endeavor. The vision here defines what classes we offer, who teaches them, and what curricula is employed. It is the job of our Visioning Team to keep ERC committed to our focus areas.

What age can we start?

Nursery through Pre-school classes are reserved for children with older siblings attending. Your oldest child must be at least 5 by December 2025 to register.

What does a typical day look like at ERC?

We begin our ERC morning at 9:00 am in the Sanctuary for chapel. All moms and children get to attend. From chapel, classes are dismissed by age. All classes have a snack break and conclude by 12:15pm.

How much does it cost?

The cost is $200/family for the year. This cost includes 1 yearbook per family. For more information about our payment policy, click the Pay Online tab. Scholarships are available! Please contact Jen Basch with any questions.

What are parents’ responsibilities?

Each mom will be assigned to help in a class. Parents (moms and dads) will help their children get the most out of ERC by taking an interest in what their child is learning and by holding them accountable to excellent, self-paced work for the 2 weeks between classes.

What about homework and high-school credit?

As children approach the older levels, homework will be required. We leave decisions about high school credit to each home school family’s judgment. Many of our families apply ERC classes toward transcript credits, some do not.
